On April 26 comes into force the Russian Government Order #310, introducing postpayment in the Platon charging system for Russia-registered users

On April 26, 2016 comes into force the Russian Government Order № 310 which enables postpayment in the Platon system for toll collection to compensate for the damage caused to general purpose federal highways by Vehicles Exceeding 12 Tons of gross vehicles weight (hereinafter the Platon system). This legal act was published on April 16, 2016 on the official web-site of the Government of the Russian Federation

On April 26, 2016 the Platon system operator will start accepting applications from the Platon system users for the postpayment. For the vehicle owners that are already registered in the Platon system a special service in a personal account on internet portal is introduced, through which they can check whether they fulfill a number of requirements to obtain a delay on payment.

The Platon system is the first worldwide system which is technically able to provide "postpayment" services for carriers in addition to the advance payments. It should be noted that in toll systems of other countries postpayment function is not provided.

Postpayment will allow the Platon system users to pay for the route within a month following a billing month (after financial settlements with shippers).

Postpayment shall be provided only for users and vehicles registered in Russian Federation. To obtain a postpayment option, vehicle owners should meet the following requirements:

1) Be a registered user of "Platon" system for more than 2 months in a row;

2) Do not have arrears and unpaid fines for the use of toll roads;

3) Free of charge OBU to be fixed in a vehicle.
